Year-Round Outdoor Soaking
Our cedar hot tubs combine the natural beauty and warmth of wood with the durability needed for year-round outdoor use. The cedar exterior provides natural insulation and ages beautifully, while a clear fiberglass reinforcement — applied like a traditional cedar canoe — creates a structurally strong, leak-proof vessel that stays filled continuously.
Compatible with electric, propane, or wood-fired heating systems (not included — we provide expert guidance on system selection). The smooth fiberglass-reinforced interior is easy to clean and maintain with standard hot tub water treatment.
Unlike our cedar ofuro tubs with natural wood interiors designed for drain-and-fill use, cedar hot tubs are built to stay filled and heated — always ready when you are.

Frequently Asked
The cedar hot tub has a fiberglass-reinforced interior designed to stay filled continuously with heating and filtration — always ready for a soak. Our ofuro tubs have natural unsealed wood interiors with drain-and-fill usage — no chemicals or systems needed.

The clear marine fiberglass is applied just like a traditional cedar canoe — it's a proven method for creating durable, waterproof wood vessels. The fiberglass is clear so the wood grain shows through, and it creates a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. Think of it as a protective reinforcement layer, not a plastic lining.
Depends on your usage:
- Regular daily use: Electric 110V spa system (~$300–600) — most convenient, thermostat-controlled
- Budget-conscious: Inflatable spa heater (like SaluSpa) — affordable, slower but adequate
- Efficient on-demand: Tankless propane (~$800–1,500) — fast heating, lower operating costs
- Off-grid/romantic: Wood-fired with thermosiphon (~$1,000–2,000) — most work, traditional experience
We don't sell heating equipment, but we have extensive experience and provide expert consulting to help you select the right system. We connect you with suppliers and local contractors for installation.
Yes. These tubs are designed for outdoor year-round use. Cedar provides natural insulation, and with proper heating, you can maintain hot water even in winter. The wood will weather naturally (silver-grey patina) or can be maintained with oil for original color.
Depends on system, usage, climate, and whether you maintain temperature 24/7 or heat on-demand. Electric 110V typically costs $30–60/month for maintained temperature. Propane can be more economical. Cedar's natural insulation helps reduce costs vs. uninsulated tubs.
Water: Standard hot tub water treatment — test pH regularly, add chlorine/bromine (or alternative sanitizers like mineral or ozone systems), change water every 3–4 months.
Filter: Clean cartridge filter regularly (every 2–4 weeks depending on use).
Wood exterior: Cedar will weather naturally to silver-grey, or maintain with wood oil annually.
Interior: Smooth fiberglass-reinforced surface is easy to wipe clean — much simpler than natural wood.
- Port Orford Cedar — Premium option, tightest grain, most aromatic, highest durability
- Western Red Cedar — Classic choice, beautiful grain, excellent insulation
- Redwood — Rich color, naturally rot-resistant, ages beautifully
- Douglas Fir — Economical, rustic character, durable
The fiberglass reinforcement means the interior is protected regardless of wood choice — so pick the exterior look you love most.
Jets aren't standard in our traditional soaking tub design, but there's no reason you couldn't add them with your own pump system. These tubs are about deep, calm soaking rather than hydrotherapy jets.
When filled, these weigh 870–1,450 lbs depending on size — similar to standard bathtubs and much lighter than large acrylic hot tubs. Most residential decks can support this, but consult a structural engineer if uncertain. Compact dimensions take less space than standard hot tubs.

What Our Clients Say
Most importantly, our soaking tub is amazing. It's beautiful and provides the most relaxing, therapeutic experience. But I cannot undervalue the dedication of Tyler and everyone else. They maintained open communication and worked with us throughout the process.
These soaking tubs are works of art and ingenuity. I am so happy to have an outdoor tub without needing chemicals, and I can heat the water 'off grid'. Great communications and customer service too!
